TEXTILE ART

My art aims to waken our sensory relationship with Earth, to re-member our ways of agency, belonging, and connectedness. Vibrance and pattern, light and shadow, characters and the elements, movement and stillness, being and not-being, quantum and fractal, simple and maximal.

Working with our most ancient materiality – textile, colour, and symbols – I hand-make botanical pigments and dye process them on hand-woven linen, merino wool, and cotton. The natural pigments, each molecule unique, play and vibrate as light changes. The cloth beckons our hands, recalling our first wrapping, and our nightly descent.

Global, ancient symbols tap on our collective consciousness, in spirals, geometrics, and visual rhythms and cycles. They call to our anatomy of consciousness through our bodies and our cosmos. We have marked stones, caves, houses, ritual circles and our bodies with these symbols for hundreds of thousands of years. Textiles and the pigments to mark them are amongst humans’ earliest artistic and trade goods.

With every brush stroke, every fringe pull, I hear my ancestors, who were spinners, and the songs they chanted as they wove the world.

Wall Art, Room Screens and Onsen.
Symbols of place, agency and cosmos. Characters of Dreams. Familiars, Ancestors, and Sacred Geometries.

Wearable heirlooms of warmth, pattern, and will.  Organic merino wool and linen.  Be held in an embrace – or flash – of ancestors, dance, and connection.

Mandalas light up moments of space and time. Mosaics mark gateways of path and pause. Installations invite you inside.
